Formed when the sun behind you casts a shadow onto the cloud below.
Water droplets in the clouds create a rainbow around the shadow.

It's a rare treat, to get to the top of Yr Wyddfa and find it empty.
The highest mountain in England and Wales is usually really busy.
If you'd like a lonely mountain you need to start early and get out mid week, in the Winter.
If the weather looks a bit rough early in the day the mountains might be even quieter.
Have great days out this Winter - carry spikes, pack snacks, take extra gloves.
Always pack as if you ARE going to break an ankle - the cold can kill you if you're forced to stop moving.
An old down jacket crunched into a drybag weighs very little and can be a lifesaver. For you or someone else.
